Worship Leader Life Podcast Episode 7 - Casey Corum Part 2 of 2

Pleased to bring you Part 2 of the Casey Corum Interview. Be sure to check out the Ferment Podcast (mentioned by Casey in this episode).

The following was from our notes last week. If you missed it, listen to Part 1 before you listen to this episode.

It was my pleasure to get on a call with one of my favourite songwriters and worship leaders, Casey Corum. Casey's songs have gone with us through thick and thin, ups and downs, they have helped me to process junk, hear from the Lord, and lead so many others in precious worship. His songs have even become favourites for my kids! When they've had a long and rough day, they often request that I play Peace for them as they fall asleep. Beautiful moments of worship with my family.

In my early days of leading worship, I would listen to and use Casey's songs in our church, and read interviews, watched videos, and did all I could to find out about this humble guy who seemed so far away from where I was. Turns out, he wasn't that far away after all! In fact, he grew up just across the border from where my wife grew up and where we live now, something I discovered in our pre-chat before the interview. Years after finding his music, I realized we had a number of mutual friends, and one winter we both ended up at an intimate gathering of fellow worship leaders and songwriters. In my nervousness (meeting one of my "idols"!) I did my best to be crazy, boisterous and loud, in an effort to find out if I could make this guy laugh. You see, this is always my go-to when I am trying to get in with others. Weak and silly, I know, but very human, wouldn't you agree? Haha. One night we all headed over to a local pub, Casey and a few others had got there first. I burst in, ripped my shirt off and proceeded to loudly proclaim something in song about Casey and his burger. Well, it musta made just enough of an impression, cause over the next few years we would see each other again at this annual event, and when I asked him if he'd be on the podcast, he said yes. I kept my shirt on for the interview.

We grabbed this from Casey's own site, caseycorum.net
